10 Underused Video Game Characters You Fell In Love With

7. Samus Aran - Metroid

While we patiently await Samus' epic return in Metroid prime 4, we will take this moment to look back and lament the near decade long dry spell we endured without another appearance from the first lady of gaming.

After the Prime trilogy wrapped up, Metroid was handed to Ninja Theory for the next game, Metroid: Other M, by far the most infamous and generally reviled game in the entire series. After which, Samus just kinda disappeared for the entire 2010's. Just to drive home how embarrassed of Samus Nintendo seemed to be, the next Metroid game released was Metroid Federation Force. Where Samus was nowhere to be found.

Because I guess Nintendo thought that Samus was what people got mad at Other M about...

Fortunately in the late 2010's, Nintendo began showing the franchise some love again, with a remake of Metroid 2 and the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, which is set to come out approximately 3 days after the rapture.

So while the end to the Metroid drought is slow going, we're definitely a lot closer to new Samus content than we were a few years ago. But almost ten years is a long time to go without so much as mentioning one of your most famous IPs outside of Smash Bros.
