10 Upcoming 2019 Video Games You Could Totally Miss

4. Shenmue III

When it comes to release dates being pushed back, Code Vein has nothing on Shenmue III. Following Shenmue II’s initial release in 2001, there had been rampant speculation that somehow, the third game was coming soon.

In 2015, a Kickstarter for the game was finally announced, eventually pulling in $6 million for the cause. That all happened within a month, with the first $2 million landing in under seven hours. Shenmue III has the sixth biggest Kickstarter ever and the largest of all time for a video game.

Despite this clear enthusiasm for the game though, it’s still in danger of passing people by. The game was pulled from Steam after it became an Epic Games Store one-year exclusive, leading to controversy and refunds, while the release has moved from early 2018, to late 2018, to August 27th 2019 to the now official release of November 19th 2019.

That certainly hasn’t derailed the hype train, but let’s just say it’s arriving at the station much later than expected. With so much hype, long delays and years of nostalgia baked in to the first two cult classics, hopefully Shenmue III isn’t being set up for a mighty fall.
