10 Upcoming Games That Have Already Made One HUGE Mistake
8. Announcing WAY Too Early - The Elder Scrolls VI
Though there's no denying that The Elder Scrolls VI is one of the most anticipated video games in development right now, it's also ludicrous to think about the fact that Bethesda announced it all the way back at E3 2018 with a brief teaser trailer.
Seven years later, the RPG still seems a long ways away from release, having only entered full production in the summer of 2023 following the completion of the studio's sci-fi RPG Starfield.
And so, there's understandable frustration from some fans that Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI far too early, seemingly motivated by a desire to stop fans asking them when they were finally getting around to making it.
But the teaser trailer has hardly quelled the restlessness around its release, especially as we're now further from the reveal trailer than the reveal trailer was from the release of Skyrim - an insane statistic if there ever was one.
Will any of this really matter if The Elder Scrolls VI is brilliant? Of course not, but Bethesda risks leaving fans fed up of waiting by announcing the thing so damn early.
Compare this to Fallout 4, which was announced barely five months before release and quickly became one of their most commercially successful games.
There's something to be said for short marketing tails which don't burn impatient players out long before the game is actually available.
