In fairness, it has been 5 years since the release of the last proper Sims game, but hasn't the novelty kinda worn off by now? The Sims became an instant commercial juggernaut upon release in 2000, and has enjoyed phenomenal success with its two direct sequels as well as a litany of increasingly bizarre and desperate expansion packs. The Sims 4 is finally due out later in the year, and though the graphical leap is considerable, is there really going to be enough here to make it worth a release day purchase? Create-A-Sim has been overhauled substantially and Sims can finally perform multiple actions at once, but is this functionality really worth another £40? Given how The Sims games are best enjoyed in brief bursts, it's hard to get too hyped up about the release, at least until Maxis starts showing off more of what the game has in store for us. Chalk this one up as one to maybe buy sometime next year when it's been heavily discounted. Just maybe.
