If you've not heard or read any of the horror stories of Junji Ito then I truly recommend you take the time to do so, as his art, combined with some of the most out-there horror ideas I've ever seen, make for an experience that will genuinely leave you in a state of unease for hours if not days after.

And it's this surgical level of provoking unease that makes up the experience of World Of Horror, a new title that's in Early Access at the time of writing. On paper, it sounds like it would be an absolute mess: A "1-bit" horror game that fuses turn based combat, with a branching choice system, "Tiger Woods" style golf power up meter attacks, and ... er... deck building that allows you to shape your adventure in different ways.

And yet, it totally works, managing to truly deliver on its unique premise while also providing a tonne of creepy low-resolution scares. It's a faithful adaptation of old school adventure games and thanks to randomised item placement and enemy locations, it's not just a trial and error experience.

You will WANT to play through this multiple times as it's just so utterly original that it begs to be explored. Plus that old school aesthetic is just *chef kiss*
