10 Upcoming Video Game Remakes That Could Be Better Than The Original
1. Frostpunk 1886
Back in April, a remake of 2018's city building survival game Frostpunk was announced, and while many fans understandably bristled at the idea of remaking a 7-year-old game, it makes a little more sense when you dig into the details.
For one the remake, entitled Frostpunk 1886, won't be releasing until 2027, ensuring it isn't some half-assed cash-in remake project, but a full-fat rebuild that intends to take full advantage of a near-decade's worth of tech advancements.
Crucially, the remake will be abandoning the original game's bespoke Liquid Engine, which made porting it to consoles incredibly challenging and obliterated its modding potential.
Instead, much like the recent Frostpunk 2, the remake will be running on Unreal Engine 5, which will both ensure the easy integration of mods and, of course, a stunning level of visual fidelity.
Furthermore, in addition to the "Order" and "Faith" paths of ideology players could follow in the original game, a third "Purpose" path will be included, and developer 11 Bit Studios has promised that many of the systems and quality-of-life improvements introduced in Frostpunk 2 will additionally be ported over to this remake.
They're saying all the right things, basically.
