10 Upcoming Video Games Doomed To Disappoint
9. WWE 2K14 (Oct 29)
When publishers 2K Games took control of THQ's WWE video game franchise, there were brief hopes that perhaps 2K might hire Visual Concepts - who work on their NBA and MLK games - to give the franchise a makeover.
While VC were hired, they were roped in alongside Yukes, who have been developing WWE games since the inauguration of the SmackDown! franchise in 2000, and have produced a relatively middling run of games throughout their tenure. The idea of injecting new blood into the mix was a welcome idea, but from what we've seen so far, this is just business as usual for the needlessly annualised franchise.
2K's games developed solely by VC look fantastic, yet going by the rather dull aesthetic of WWE 2K14 - which again feels several years behind most other sports games - it's clear that this is really just another Yukes title.
While the introduction of The Ultimate Warrior as a playable character is awesome, it's not exactly enough to entice me to expect anything more than another down-the-line wrestling sim with woefully outdated graphics.
