10 Upcoming Video Games In HUGE Trouble

6. Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora

It was revealed way back in April 2017 that Massive Entertainment (Tom Clancy's The Division) was hard at work on a new game based on James Cameron's Avatar.

Ultimately the title, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, was officially revealed at last year's E3 - an open-world action-adventure game set on the Na'vi homeworld of Pandora.

Frontiers of Pandora was originally set for a late 2022 release, as would've allowed it to coincide with the release of Avatar: The Way of Water in December, but back in July it was announced that the game was receiving a huge delay, and wouldn't release until 2023 or perhaps even 2024. Oof.

Reputable insider Jeff Grubb reported around this time that he'd heard the game was in "rough shape" gameplay-wise despite being a visual looker.

While Ubisoft is at least delaying the game rather than shoving it out the door to cash in on the Avatar sequel's inevitable success, delaying it potentially two years when it was only a few months away from its planned original release date is... concerning, to say the least.

It's possible that Massive takes the time to figure things out and then releases a quality game alongside Avatar 3 instead, but it's certainly worth keeping your expectations basement-low for this one.
