10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Getting Delayed

2. Grand Theft Auto VI

Let's be honest - would it surprise anyone if Grand Theft Auto VI ended up sliding from its Q3/Q4 2025 date to early 2026?

Developer Rockstar has a storied history of extensively delaying their most anticipated AAA titles to ensure maximum polish, and last year reports claimed that Rockstar brass were concerned about development falling behind schedule, possibly resulting in a push to 2026.

Though Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive responded to the rumours by reiterating a 2025 release date, should we really expect anything less from a publicly traded company with shareholders to answer to?

Conversely, at the start of this year reputed games journalist Jason Schreier marked his own belief that GTA VI would indeed slip to 2026, and given that he's privy to extensive behind-the-scenes knowledge, it's fair to assume he has good reason to make that assumption.

Schreier did indicate that the main reason for the possible-delay will likely be Rockstar's desire to avoid the widely-criticised crunch period during late development of Red Dead Redemption 2, and who can argue with that?
