10 Upcoming Video Games To Look Out For In May 2017

4. Mirage: Arcane Warfare

What is it: Mirage: Arcane Warfare is a team-based first person shooter, and the successor to the multiplayer first person slasher Chivalry: Medieval Warfare by TomBanner Games. But whereas the first drew from historical fantasy with swords, shields, and axes, Mirage not only improves on the melee combat but adds a new dimension of power with the inclusion of magic, drawing from a more diverse mythical ethos.

Mirage aims to keep it's melee and spell combat equally intricate and rewarding, both as a natural extension to each other. Six separate classes pepper the ranks of both teams, from ranged magicians and magic trap specialists to agile swordsmen and brutes of force.

Most spells, like melee attacks, have a wind-up motion that can be easily read from afar - they can even be parried by the opponent's weapon. Projectiles can also be deflected back at the opponent, amplifying the risk of long-range spells considerably. Despite the power of the spell, the sword remains a strong foil.

When's it coming out: Mirage: Arcane Warfare launches on 26 May on Steam. Those who pre-order can access an open beta.
