10 Upcoming Video Games You Didn't Realise Got Cancelled
6. Football 25
Football Manager has remained one of the most consistent footie franchises out there, with Sports Interactive churning out a new entry annually for two decades.
Though it's difficult to maintain relevance and popularity after so many years, the previous instalment of the soccer simulator seemed to hits its stride. Not only was Football Manager 2024 the first entry released in Japan, it marked the first time players could transfer their data from a previous game. Football Manager 2024 was also the most-played instalment and won a whole bunch of awards. For this reason, hype for the inevitable follow-up was through the roof.
But in an unexpected turn, Football 25 became the first game in the series to be cancelled. Though fans knew something was up when 25 missed its deadline, it seemed like only a matter of time before Sports Interactive got back on track.
Sadly, the company announced the development was suffering from a plethora of problems, including sporadic AI behaviour, poor UI quality, and insufficient performances. These problems would take so long to fix, the studio thought it was sensible to skip Football 25 entirely and move straight onto Football 26.
