5. Wild

It's no surprise to see another Ubisoft title on our list.
Ubisoft Paris and Wild Sheep Studio joined forces in 2014 to create a survival title set during the Neolithic age called Wild. Players would've taken control of a prehistoric shaman, who relied on animals to spy on others, attack hostile tribes, and protect themselves from threats. Players would use their totemic powers to take control of the wildlife, looking at the world from the creatures' point-of-view.
Wild sounded staggering ambitious, considering it took place in a procedurally generated world the size of a continent. Players had a diverse range what they could control, including wolves, sheep, cats, birds, fish, and even ants. It also boasted online play, complex weather systems, and seasonal patterns, highlighting the developers packed the Stone Age adventure to the gills with content.
That's why it's frustrating to learn it never materialised. When the director, Michel Ancel, retired from the industry in 2020, rumours swirled that Wild had been reduced to vaporware. These theories were quashed, as it was later confirmed Wild was still in development.
Until it wasn't. Wild had been revised so many times over the past decade, it had little resemblance to the template, compelling the higher-ups to put it to rest in July 2024. Even though it's been reported Sony offered to double the developers wages to continue working on Wild, an agreement couldn't be worked out.
