10 Valid Concerns About 2018's Biggest Video Games
3. Spider-Man's Reliance On QTEs
Unlike his comic contemporary Batman, Spider-Man hasn't had a truly great game in a while. So when it was revealed that Insomniac would be taking the helm on a brand new title featuring everyone's favourite wall crawler, the internet was excited.
However, news on the game has been incredibly thin. The game is tentatively supposed to be releasing this year, but a concrete date is still up in the air and this is after a delay from its original 2017 date.
From what little footage we have seen, the game looks pretty but it also looks to rely heavily on QTEs, a maligned mechanic hold-over from the last generation.
There's definitely hope that this game will finally give Spidey the outing he deserves. With Insomniac leading the way, it seems like there's little to worry about - after all, they developed Sunset Overdrive, and the high-octane movement system in that game seems like a perfect precursor to developing Spider-Man's lithe move set.
Still, it's disconcerting to have heard so little about a game that is supposed to be releasing so soon.
