10 Valid Concerns About 2018's Biggest Video Games

4. Final Fantasy VII Remake Changing Too Much

During its 2015 E3 showcase, Sony dropped a number of colossal reveals in quick succession - the revival of The Last Guardian, the return of Shenmue and, perhaps the biggest of them all, the reveal that Final Fantasy VII was being remade from the ground up for PS4. Flash forward a couple of years and what should have been a sure fire hit has become a dubious proposition.

Since its initial reveal, very little has been said about the game and its development has been mostly shrouded in secrecy. It's going on three years since the remake was announced, and there's been almost nothing to show for it. But it's what we do know that's the scariest: plans to turn the game into an episodic series, cutting up a fan-favourite story to sell in chunks, as well as altering character designs, are all tampering with what is considered by so many to be a classic.

Final Fantasy VII is a game that helped define a franchise - this time however, it might be best if they simply leave it be. Despite fans clamouring for a remake, it's going to be hard-pressed to please everyone.
