For RTS fans, The Battle For Middle Earth series was a title that acted as a love letter to the source material and also to the desire to lead huge fantasy forces into battle with one another. With a surprisingly lengthy campaign that offered both Good and Evil takes on the narrative and a robust multiplayer offering, the second game really shone.
