Armello is a digital board game in which you and three other people play as anthropomorphic adventurers trying to dethrone the current king after he's become afflicted with a terrible curse.

The goal of the game is to get rid of the king so that you can take his place, and although the option is technically available to you right from the start, you really want to postpone the final boss fight until you're sufficiently strong to survive it.

This is because the king is actually a formidable opponent, and if he manages to take you down himself, you basically hand over the victory to another player.

You see, although the game wants you to kill the king, defeating him is not the only way to victory. The player can also succeed the king if they gave the most prestige points for completing quests, and since anyone who attacks the king loses all their prestige upon the action, if you don't manage to win the duel and end up with a stalemate, another player will take the victory from you.

You either stand victorious over the king's dead body, or another player will stand over both of your corpses instead.
