Project Zomboid is an incredibly detailed zombie horror game that allows you to create your very own post-apocalyptic survivor and guide them through the world of the hungry undead.

The game's character creator comes with a variety of professions, skills, and character traits that are meant to give your character an edge, but there is also a list of negative traits that are supposed to balance the game and prevent the player from creating an unkillable murder machine right from the start.

Some negative traits are worth more points than others, allowing you to exchange them for more positive traits. One of the most expensive negative traits in the game is the "illiterate" trait, which, as the name suggests, prevents the player from reading books.

If you're new to the game, this might sound like a really good deal. What are books good for in an apocalypse anyway? Well, reading books allows you to learn skills much faster and reading magazines can teach you useful mechanics that you won't be able to access otherwise. By making your character illiterate, you not only doom yourself to hours of mindless grinding but also prevent yourself from using even the most rudimentary of skills.
