5. Jayden - Heavy Rain
Heavy Rain was a trailblazer in choice-based video games, with every decision having huge ramifications on the paths characters took. Main men Ethan Mars and Scott Shelby are both required to make it to the end of the story alive, but the two other playable characters, journalist Madison Paige and FBI investigator Norman Jayden can both find themselves meeting a permanent demise in their pursuit of the Origami Killer.
Madison actually has the most potential deaths in the game, however, it is the FBI's finest players most likely ended up killing during their playthroughs.
Not only can players cause Jayden to die of an overdose on the Triptocaine and ARI technology he uses both in-game and in the epilogue, but the four different levels in which he can be killed are the easiest to slip up on.
'Solving the Puzzle' will give very little warning that players are on the verge of an overdose, 'Fish Tank' has some tricky quick-time events that see Jayden stabbed by a katana, and the fight with Mad Jack features a sudden action that, unless spotted quickly enough, drops Norman into a car crusher.
All in all, getting Jayden to the end of a playthrough alive is a serious achievement.
