Solaire of Astora. Our little ray of sunshine in a game filled with bleak darkness and horrible monsters. The skilled warrior who purposefully made himself undead to 'find his very own sun', Solaire is a never-ending flurry of positivity and quips that has made him one of the enduring characters in Dark Souls lore.

However, for this bucket helmet-wearing ally, most players are perfectly content consigning him to a tragic demise. In fact, the further along in his main questline they go, players will stumble across an increasingly desperate Solaire, losing faith in his religion before going into a frenzy and attacking you in Lost Izalith.

Thankfully, there have been more and more ways found of keeping this cheery companion alive in the years since Dark Souls' initial release.
