10 Video Game Characters That Deserved To Die (But Didn't)

9. Gabriel T. Rorke - Call Of Duty: Ghosts

The formula of the Call of Duty franchise more or less dictates that the larger-than-life antagonist of each game is generally killed by the end, or at least returns to terrorise the world again in a sequel, right?

Well, there's one major exception, and that's the main villain of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Gabriel T. Rorke, the former leader of the Ghosts who was captured by the Federation and brainwashed into becoming their assassin.

He ends up killing his squad-mate Elias Walker, the father of the game's primarily player character Logan, and at the end of the game Logan seems set to exact violent revenge upon his father's slayer.

Though Logan and his brother Hesh do manage to wound Rorke, the game ends with Logan captured by Rorke and about to be subjected to the very same torture that caused Rorke's own brainwashing. Grim.

The middling critical and fan response to Ghosts ultimately led to no sequel ever being made, leaving the fates of both Rorke and Logan up in the air.

Given that Rorke was very much in control of the situation when we left him, it's pretty safe to assume that his comeuppance never came.
