And yet, there's one interaction in Super Mario RPG that left everyone befuddled. If Mario explores Princess Peach's bedroom, he can find an object titled "Toadstool's XXX" (Toadstool was the Princess' name at the time.)

At first, it's easy to assume this is an innocent mistake. The triple-X doesn't necessarily mean the innocent Princess owns... that sort of stuff, right?

But immediately after Mario finds this cryptic artefact, a Toad will barge in and bribe the Italian plumber with a Mushroom to leave everything the way it was. Why would he do that unless the moustachioed mascot found something unbecoming?

If Mario looks at the object while the princess is in his party, she'll berate him for peeking, causing the deflated hero to hang his head in shame.

For the remake, the Princess' mysterious item was renamed as Peach's ???, which sounds slightly better. But since it's never been specified exactly what this artefact is, players imagine the worst, which would explain why Mario was berated for looking.
