Grand Theft Auto is known for its cheat codes. Once the sandboxes were all totally opened up to the player, they would put those codes in, and make the world into their playground. No box for any of those games was complete without a sheet of looseleaf paper and many codes jotted down.

The game even had people digging deep into its code, trying desperately to find the Hot Coffee mode, which caused so much controversy that it got the game banned from store shelves; its rating going beyond M into the legendary Adults Only category.

With codes to make cars appear out of nowhere, or turn the character into a one-man-army, this next code only left players mystified as to its greater purpose.

By entering this code, the game's main character, CJ, would just die.

Yeah, that's it.

Aside from using it as another bad-faith prank on an unassuming gamer, the code served no real purpose.

Grand Theft Auto as a series has always been able to provide much more entertaining ways of meeting one's demise. Better it be an epic shootout invoving a tank than simply because of a weird controller input.
