10 Video Game Enemies That Should've Been The Final Boss

1. Raiden - Mortal Kombat 11

In Mortal Kombat lore, Raiden was perceived as a benevolent hero for many years. But in Mortal Kombat: Deception, the thunder god started going down a dark path. After the noble warrior, Shujinko accidentally awakened the demonic Onaga, the realms were brought to the brink of collapse. Even though Shujinko defeated Onaga, Raiden believed he was beyond forgiveness and had him executed him.

Sadly, the deity's sinister streak continued in MK9. In this remake, Raiden shatters the rules of the Mortal Kombat tournament, tries to sell the souls of fallen heroes to Quan Chi, and murders Earthrealm's champion, Liu Kang. Because of his deplorable actions, Raiden had become the very evil he swore to destroy. And when he was corrupted by the Jinsei in MKX, all signs pointed to once-adored hero becoming the primary villain of the next instalment.

But in MK11, it's revealed that Kronika was behind Raiden's fall from grace, exonerating him from all his misdeeds.

Although fans were happy to see Raiden was a good guy again, it was annoying to see his entire story arc discarded, especially after his descent into madness was built up for 15 years.
