10 Video Game Final Bosses Who Refused To Die
5. Yiazmat - Final Fantasy XII
With some titles, the fun doesn’t end when you’ve squared up to the main antagonist and seen the credits. Many RPGs titles, especially those in the Final Fantasy series, include a host of optional bosses to seek out and overcome that are often leagues harder than anything on the story path.
Yiazmat is described as Final Fantasy XII’s “ultimate” final boss. Its the final mark that the player has to defeat as part of the monster-hunting portion of the game which steadily gets more and more challenging.
What makes this fight so monstrous is the fact that Yiazmat has 50 health bars consisting of one million HP each. We’ll let you do the maths on that one. This alone is reason enough for a boss fight to go on for hours but when you get about halfway Yiazmat cuts your party’s damage output down to ⅓.
It’s possible to leave the battle, stock up and come back and let’s face it considering it takes about three hours your party will probably need it. But if Yiazmat casts Regen before you go you’ll be returning to a boss that has filled it's health back up if you’re not quick enough.
Throw in its ability to inflict some of the game’s worst status effects such as Petrify and Death Strike which has a 50% chance of OHKO’ing your warriors and Yiazmat may just take the concept of “ultimate” a bit too far.
