10 Video Game Final Bosses Who Refused To Die
4. Genshin - Ninja Gaiden 2
Whilst he’s not technically the final boss in Ninja Gaiden 2, in many ways Genshin is just as important an antagonist for Ryu Hayabusa, if not moreso.
Genshin, leader of the Black Spider Clan, is defined by his hatred of the Hayabusa family and starts the game by nearly murdering Ryu’s Father Jo multiple times.
Thus, Ryu and Genshin engage in battle - four different times.
Genshin is a nimble and powerful foe who doesn’t mess about. Then again, that’s a pretty accurate description for most of Ninja Gaiden’s boss fights. What makes him different is that, for the most part, he’s the only human boss that players will tangle with, usually squaring up to a variety of demons and monsters. As such, his battles feel as personal as his story suggests.
The player’s third showdown with Genshin occurs atop the active summit of Mt Fuji where Ryu finally kills his rival and moves on to stop an oncoming calamity. However, Genshin doesn’t stay dead long thanks to the talents of blood priestess Elizabét whom revives Genshin as his final, fiendish form.
That makes for four boss fights against Genshin across Ninja Gaiden 2, so driven by his cause to stop you that he refused to stay down.
