10 Video Game Franchises That Desperately Need Reboots

6. Twisted Metal

Dino Crisis
Sony

Unlike Dino Crisis, Twisted Metal was given an encore by the PlayStation Classic, and it’s a bit of a forgotten gem which could use some love.

Fellow PlayStation Classic title Demolition Derby could easily be here in its place, or something like Burnout 3. Those types of games were a genre unto themselves; one which is badly lacking representation these days.

More recent Burnouts have taken the racing aspect more seriously, trying (and largely failing) to compete with the likes of Forza. Need For Speed has lost some of its grit in pursuit of a slick, smooth racing experience too, leaving a big gap in the market.

Rocket League has had huge success mixing cars and football together, showing there’s still an appetite for ‘racing’ games devoid of any actual racing. That’s exactly why Twisted Metal needs a reboot.

It was essentially Mario Kart if Princess Peach was a psycho and the banana skins were loaded with nitroglycerin.

It was absolute carnage at times, and with the battle royale genre having a renaissance, Twisted Metal can bring something new to the party. Because every party needs a killer clown.
