10 Video Game Franchises That Desperately Need Reboots

2. Conker

Rare

Few video game mascots have ever been so badly mistreated as Conker. Yes, Spyro had to suffer through that god awful Skylanders stage, but at least the purple dragon was allowed to return to greatness with Spyro: Reignited.

Sonic too has been offered a chance at redemption, with the movie being delayed to fix that CGI hack job. Conker though continues to suffer, with a very limited chance of any revival whatsoever.

Despite these slim chances though, he desperately, desperately needs one.

Conker made his debut in Conker’s Pocket Tales, a fairly forgettable family friendly game featuring a cuddly little squirrel. However, with his sequel Conker’s Bad Fur Day, he left his mark on gaming forever.

With a new, much more adult sense of humour, Conker became one of the most beloved and unexpected antiheroes in gaming. He had a fantastically edgy personality and a world full of hilarious foes; most notably the Great Mighty Poo.

If he’d gone back to his cutesy, all ages appropriate image, that would’ve been bad enough. However, instead when Microsoft took over Rare they butchered Conker into a soulless husk to promote Project Spark, and the true Conker was lost forever.

A reboot could be an instant cult classic.
