10 Video Game Franchises That Need To Die

6. The Witcher

Witcher 3 blood and wine ending
CD Projekt RED

Put down the pitchforks, I'm going to clarify something here.

The Witcher 3 tied up Geralt's story beautifully, and there's really nothing more to add to it. No plot points were left unresolved, no characters were left without an arc. It really was a perfect way to say goodbye.

If CD Projekt RED tried to keep Geralt, they would have to move to the books that precede the games. There, they would see their creative talents hemmed in by the confines of a writing style that doesn't lend itself to a video game setting.

Instead, they should look forwards, and the future of The Witcher doesn't have Geralt in it.

When the final game first introduced Ciri in the final game, she was an instant hit. She's a compelling character in her own right, and deserves to have her own section of the franchise, but she needs to leave Geralt behind. If Ciri does make another appearance in the series, CD Project Red shouldn't have to push it as a part of Geralt's story.

He's had his time, and it's been incredible, but let Ciri take the reins from now on.

They don't let me write here anymore. I think they were put off by my handlebar moustache.
