10 Video Game Franchises We Really Don't Need More Of
4. Sonic The Hedgehog
Probably the only example that comes to mind of a character who should never have joined the 3D revolution, Sonic the Hedgehog had the world at his supersonic feet while he remained on a two dimensional platform, yet sadly, our speedy blue friend completely lost his edge when he appeared on the ill-fated Dreamcast.
Sonic Adventure was a great idea for a game, as was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, but controlling a character designed for speed with hyper-sensitive settings (that couldn't be altered) and awful camera angles ruined the experience completely. Many never bothered finishing, but you can view the endings on YouTube if you really want to.
Subsequently, we've been 'treated' to sheer persistence on the part of SEGA and Sonic Team which has led to the hedgehog having a human love interest, suffering werewolf like transformations, combating the lazily named Black Knight, learning a strange form of Parkour and even meeting his formerly two dimensional self.
Just give it a rest now SEGA; the time has passed and Sonic Forces is unlikely to change our minds.
