10 Video Game “Heroes” You Really Shouldn’t Be Rooting For
8. Kratos (God Of War)
Deceived
into murdering his own family, Kratos has been on the warpath ever since,
maiming and dismembering anything and everything in his way. He’s a complete
psychopath who’s murdered innocent people, ransacked ancient civilisations and
pillaged peaceful civilisations. He was a monster long before he made a pact to become
the God of War, and he’s continued to serve as a monster ever since, motivated
solely by vengeance.
He’s also doomed. After all, he’s a battle-hardened warrior raised on blood and entrails – with a seemingly insatiable longing for revenge – so, the character isn’t going to have a happy ending, no matter how many times he’s resuscitated. It’s equally hard to root for him. He’s essentially a power fantasy who expresses sadness and vulnerability by shouting, wreaking untold destruction in his single-minded pursuit of personal gratification.
