10 Video Game Moments That Shouldn't Have Worked But Did

3. Snowball Fight - The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

Geralt of Riva from The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is renowned for slaying wyverns, battling golems, and taking on legions of soldiers singlehandedly.

Due to his no-nonsense demeanour, the last activity you'd expect the White Wolf to take part in is a snowball fight. Stranger still, he partakes in this children's game immediately after a battle, which resulted in many deaths, including Geralt's best friend.

But this moment isn't just refreshing but necessary. Geralt has just been reunited with his step-daughter, Ciri, who he believed to be dead. Though Geralt tends to move on from any tragedy, he knows he must approach Ciri with a different strategy, especially since their next battle may very well be their last.

Rather than telling Ciri to suck it up, he playfully challenges her to a snowball fight. Although you'd expect Ciri to be the one to instigate this idea, it's more meaningful coming from Geralt, since it highlights his paternal instinct.

Geralt prefers to solve problems with his fists and blade, but this sequence demonstrates the monster hunter is still human at the end of the day, and knows how to tap into his tender side when needed.
