10 Video Game Moments That Were Utterly Patronising

The sixteenth mainline title in the Legend of Zelda franchise, Skyward Sword was developed and published by Nintendo to show off all the fancy new motion controls on their Wii system. Set right at the very beginning of the Legend of Zelda timeline, the game explores the origins of the Master Sword and sees players take control of Link, just a simple resident of Skyloft, as he embarks on his first ever quest of saving Zelda.

Whilst the Nintendo Wii has a pretty notorious reputation for not exactly being the hub of Esports-worthy skill ceilings with its releases, Skyward Sword's introduction managed to stand out as patronising even for the system.

With the first chapter being set entirely on Skyloft in the Knight's Academy and being split into five sub-chapters, players are given a ridiculously long introduction to the game's controls and setting. Everything from running around, climbing, to using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck as a weapon are explained in a painful amount of detail, and players are sure to only need about half the amount of time and training the game throws up.

Skyward Sword has a reputation for being one of the easier titles in the franchise, and this point is especially felt when players are grinding through this entire hand-holding introduction to things.
