The Pokemon games are no stranger to a pun, joke or poor mistranslation, and as such their NPCs simply ooze a quirky charisma from their pores, like a Muk in a poorly-ventilated greenhouse.

However, whilst most are innocent and borderline asinine (such as the youngster who famously reminds you of how comfy and easy to wear shorts are, for seemingly no reason, after a defeat in battle), Fire Red and Leaf Green are notable for having some truly odd examples of what can only be described as... having the Rhyhorn.

Though it’s probably a cultural thing I’m not familiar with (I’ve never been to Japan, or outside of my cave, for that matter), but several female NPCs will insist “go rest in my bed! Please... don’t be shy.” This rarely, if ever, happens to me when I’m tired and barge into other people’s houses uninvited.

Further still, one NPC will challenge you to a fight for eyeing up his girlfriend, and upon beating him, the girlfriend notes “I wish my boyfriend was as good as you.”

Whether tenuous, genuinely randy or just a hilarious translation oversight (surely they knew Brits are all overgrown 11-year-olds), it definitely makes for some Cloud Strife-level of NPC thirst.
