Trust a Monkey Island game to troll players.

Despite your smarter instincts likely telling you it's a bad idea, roughly two-thirds of the way through The Curse of Monkey Island, players will realise the only way to progress forward is to mix a drink of grog with the Head-B-Clear medicine in their possession.

But upon doing so you might first assume you've simply met a narrative dead-end, as Guybrush immediately breaks the fourth wall to mention how foolish such an act is, before seemingly dropping dead on the spot.

The game keeps the gag going by having an undertaker collect Guybrush's "corpse" from the bar, and the end credits even roll over what appears to be Guybrush's final resting place in a crypt.

Just as players assume they've reached the most prolonged Game Over screen in video game history, however, the credits dissolve and the game continues, as you're now tasked with to finding a way to free Guybrush from his live burial.
