3. Booker DeWitt - Bioshock Infinite
"Bring us the girl, wipe away the debt".
This is the order that brings private eye, Booker DeWitt, to the rally in the sky known as Columbia. Or at least, that's what Booker believes at first. But after a several hour adventure hopping across time and space with the aforementioned girl, Elizabeth, Booker makes a truly mind-bending discovery.
See, the entire city is built around the cult worship of a supposed prophet named Comstock. And no matter what dimension Booker and Elizabeth hop to, Comstock is seemingly always there waiting in some form or another. And then Booker finds out why: he is Comstock. Comstock is another version of Booker, having gone down a somehow darker path than Booker himself - building the city of Columbia and the Christofascist worship within it in another life.
To keep from spoiling the rest of the game, the end finds Booker and Elizabeth coming to one conclusion: if they are to be rid of Comstock and Columbia, then Booker has to die.
Unlike the previous two games, there is no alternate ending. It was always going to end this way for Booker.
