10 Video Game Reboots You Didn't Know Were Happening

6. Jet Set Radio

Jet Set Radio - never gonna call it Jet Grind Radio - was one of the most distinctive games ever released for the doomed Sega Dreamcast.

A visually stunning, cel-shaded skating game with a killer soundtrack to boot, it was followed up by an Xbox-exclusive sequel in 2003, Jet Set Radio Future, which flopped despite strong reviews, effectively putting the franchise on ice for two decades.

But at the 2023 Game Awards, Sega announced that a Jet Set Radio reboot was in the works, and showed off a few slivers of frankly gorgeous-looking gameplay.

We've heard little official about the game ever since that reveal, though rumours indicate it may be a free-to-play live service title, which naturally invites questions about how microtransactions will be implemented.

It's probably sensible to be at least a little skeptical of how free-to-play will change the classic Jet Set Radio experience, but with the series celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, hopefully we'll get a more comprehensive breakdown before the end of 2025.
