10 Video Game Remakes & Remasters That Surpassed Expectations
4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Nintendo aren't afraid to go back and remake one of their own. From the Super Mario All-Stars collection to the many Legend of Zelda remakes, the Japanese powerhouse has a positive track record of well received remasters. None, however, are more important than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
Sitting at a comfortable 99 on Metacritic, it's hard not to argue that Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 is a true classic. So, how do you improve on something so perfect?
It's a little like taking a chocolate bar and adding an extra ingredient, you didn't think it needed it but once it's there, you can't imagine it the same way. Ocarina of Time 3D polished up the visuals, tightened up the controls, improved the frame rate over the original's slower output and added a new touch screen interface.
More importantly, Nintendo and the development team at Grezzo fixed one of the most frustrating, most difficult areas of the original game that still pulls hair out of people's heads just thinking about it; the infamous Water Temple.
Though the changes were slight, it made navigating the underwater sections easier and removed some of the frustration in the process.
