Bioware are better known these days for the genre-defining Mass Effect and Dragon Age games, but before that they created more than a few hidden gems. Star Wars: Knights Of the Old Republic was one of them.

Star Wars games have had a fair few hits and misses. After what seemed like the death of the franchise (in videogame format anyway), they seemed to be on the rise again with the incredible Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The critical and commercial success of that game proves that there is a desire and a market for single-player story driven Star Wars games.

Knights is an outstanding game, mixing Bioware’s winning storytelling with Lucas’ renowned universe and went on to be a huge success. This game wouldn’t actually need much work. A graphics overhaul and some updated combat would be sufficient. The features that make this game so iconic are its characters, player choice and its world building.

At a time when trust in Bioware is at an all time low, remaking one of their most beloved games would be a sure-fire way to restore faith in not only the developer, but Star Wars games as a whole. Just imagine that flawless narrative with the power of next-gen consoles behind it.
