10 Video Game Remasters NOBODY Asked For
8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered
Now to be clear, after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, fans were naturally excited to see Modern Warfare 2 get the very same treatment, only for Activision to make the most weirdly anti-money move possible.
The publisher ultimately decided to release a campaign-only remaster of Modern Warfare 2, ensuring that players excited to revisit legendary multiplayer maps like Terminal, Highrise, Estate, and Rust in glorious 4K were all out of luck.
Given that Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer suite remains one of the most beloved in the entire series, this was an epic own goal by Activision, with many fans ultimately surmising that they ditched the multiplayer remaster to stop it competing with their more current Call of Duty titles.
All the same, Activision left a ton of money on the table here by not giving the people what they wanted. Modern Warfare 2's campaign is great and all, but given that the remaster also lacks the beloved Spec Ops mode, it only covered a fraction of the original 2009 release.
