The Last of Us Part 1 is an excellent remake. Despite the controversy pre-launch, this is a loving re-creation of an already near-perfect game, one that subtly updates the combat and completely overhauls the visuals, imbuing the top-tier cinematics with an even more impressive range of human emotions.

But, as a replacement for the original The Last of Us, it can never be a worthy contender and that's because it complete omitted an underrated and overlooked part of that experience: the Factions multiplayer suite.

Yeah, you might say that The Last of Us would still be a beloved masterpiece if it only shipped with its single-player, but the reality is The Last of Us was a bigger package than just that. For those of us who played and loved the intense multiplayer offering, to see it completely left in the dust for the next-gen remake was devastating.

Yes, it's probably because Naughty Dog is cooking up a spiritual successor to the original Factions mode to drop on PS5, but is that reason enough to completely sacrifice this first effort?
