10 Video Game Secrets Everyone REGRETS Finding
9. MissingNo. - Pokemon Red/Blue

Depending on who you ask, the MissingNo. glitch in Pokemon is the greatest or worst secret in the franchise.
In the original Red/Blue title, players could perform a series of overly specific tasks to encounter a group of garbled pixels called MissingNo. (which stands for "Missing Number").
After finding or capturing this... thing, the sixth item in the player's inventory will duplicate over a hundredfold. If the level-boosting Rare Candy is placed the sixth slot, the Pokemon can reach maximum levels in no time. Alternatively, players can place Master Balls in the sixth slot, allowing them to catch any Pokemon with ease.
However, it's no surprise to learn that such a reward comes with a price. Encountering MissingNo. can cause a legion of side-effects, including erasing records, distorting sprites, freezing, resetting, stat changes, Pokemon learning wrong moves, or Pokemon evolving incorrectly.
Even though resetting the game should remove these issues, certain bugs can be permanent, including the Hall of Fame data being corrupted.
Worst of all, meeting MissingNo. can corrupt the save file, meaning players can lose all their progress up until this point. This glitch is unlikely, but players need to be made aware of the risks before meeting MissingNo.
