10 Video Game Sequels Better Than The Original

3. Streets Of Rage 2

GTA Vice City
SEGA

A classic example that sometimes bigger can just mean better. 1991's Streets of Rage was a massive hit for Sega. The side-scrolling, arcade style, beat 'em up allowed the player to pick 1 of 3 city cops willing to take back their city just using their fists, kicks...and the police car that follows them everywhere with rocket launchers.

Unfortunately, Adam, Axel and Blaze can't rest on their laurels, because city stealing bad guy Mr. X doesn't stay dead, or rather, he comes back...as an android!

Oh, no – that's SoR3. In SoR2 he's still human – either way, the series offers one of the best plots you'll find in any media from the 80s and 90s.

SoR2 brings the number of playable characters from 3 to 4, and literally makes everything a bit bigger on screen. Fight combos are more varied, and the special moves more unique to the characters. The game is longer, the plot even more ludicrous, and one of your team is a small boy on skates.

A+, Sega!
