10 Video Game Sequels That DESTROY What Went Before
1. Street Fighter 2
The primary critique for what got the top spot on this list is if the game in question is so good, such an utter improvement, that not only do most people not know about the original despite there being a 2 at the end of the title, but those who DO know about the original wonder why there's a 2 at the end in the first place when the two games have literally nothing in common.
There really was no choice for the top spot under those circumstances: it can only be Street Fighter 2.
The original Street Fighter (better known over here as Fighting Street) is one of the blandest, featureless, most basic fighting games I have ever had the honor to play. An uninteresting, unappealing, nothing of a game, why Capcom decided to make one of their all time classics specifically a sequel to this release is anyone's guess, but no one here is complaining.
Street Fighter 1 may be the original, but it sure as hell isn't the reason why this is a world dominating franchise. All of that is owed to Street Fighter 2, a video game sequel so good that it DESTROYED what came before.
