10 Video Game Sequels We’d Totally Get Stupidly Excited About

3. Klonoa

Spyro the Dragon
Namco

Klonoa, is different to many old-school games, in that Door To The Phantomile is still fun to play. It is still colourful and beautiful to look at, and the platforming has aged like a fine wine.

Combined with puzzle-solving and well-designed levels, Door To The Phantomile is a PS1 classic which received top marks, but was a quiet success in comparison to the forever-grinning Crash and the butt-roasting Spyro.

In spite of sequels and an already existing remake for the Wii, Klonoa is an exceptionally underrated series which has not been recognised or properly appreciated by Western audiences. This means a rebirth is highly unlikely, and the series has most probably taken its last breath without anyone noticing or caring.

It’s a shame that continually stale and repetitive franchises like Sonic continue to be made, whilst gems such as Klonoa quietly fade away. But, with a sequel being made for the underperforming Psychonauts, anything is possible. And the Nintendo Switch, a place where cartoon-like platformers have a better chance of succeeding, would be a perfect home for Klonoa.

There is a hungry cult following who would be enthralled by its return, and a new game reveal and trailer could attract people who know nothing about the series.
