10 Video Game Sequels We’d Totally Get Stupidly Excited About

2. Prince Of Persia

Although upsetting, it is no surprise that the 28-year-old franchise has faded away since 2010. Prince Of Persia (2008) and The Forgotten Sands significantly underperformed in sales, Assassin’s Creed was introduced and flourished, and being a hooded man replaced being a prince as the newest and hippest thing amongst gamers.

Since its disappearance, a new Prince Of Persia game has been anticipated for years, with a leaked screenshot in 2012 having everyone expecting another reboot. Yet, nothing has materialised and the closest thing we have to a return for the prince is the sands and pyramids of Egypt for Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Still, the franchise is not dead. It is simply on a hiatus. And with Ubisoft waiting until the right time and idea to do something with the series, starved devotees will just have to tolerate the always recycled and uninspired buffet of Assassin’s Creed.

With the unthinkable reveal of Beyond Good And Evil 2 occurring at E3 2017, the announcement of a new Prince Of Persia will likely be as sudden and unexpected.

Ecstatic tweets, reactions and sobbing will ensue, but here’s hoping the eventual announcement of a new Prince Of Persia will not be a momentary and brief rush for something many years away.
