It’s bad enough when sly developers create tricky traps to harm gamers (as previously discussed on this list), but it’s arguably even worse when it’s other players who’re sneakily baiting their fellow competitors and companions for devious wins and easily obtained items.

Case in point: the popular practice of employing loot traps to steal other people’s stuff and/or kill them in cold blood!

Fortnite is unquestioanbly one of the main breeding grounds for this sort of behavior, with shady participants planting two slightly different types of loot traps. Both methods center around scattering random weapons and other materials to ensnare unsuspecting combatants to a certain spot; however, what happens next might vary.

In one situation, the perpetrator hides somewhere nearby and then pounces on their victim and commits the murder themselves. Alternatively, the culprit might set or throw another trap – be it a Wall Dynamo, Ceiling Zapper, Damage Trap, or Mounted Turret – alongside the loot so that when their target gets too close to it, they’re instantly slaughtered.

Generally, these tactics work with all other games – such as those in the Borderlands franchise – that let users drop gear, potions, and the like to lure other players to their demise. As such, countless people continuously make the same mistake and ignore the age-old adage that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
