10 Video Game True Endings That Change EVERYTHING
9. Masked Resurrection - Guacamelee! (2013)
The most commonly seen ending of the brilliant Metroidvania adventure, Guacamelee!, is a very unexpected punch in the gut for the player. When El Presidente's daughter and Juan's love interest, Lupita, is killed in a ritual set up by Carlos Calaca, Juan must defeat the evil skeleton's fiery final form in order to rid the world of the living of his influence.
But no matter how you play, you'll never be able to reach your beloved before her fate is sealed.
Juan holds Lupita in his arms, tears welling in his eyes as he looks out into the distance. What kind of an ending is that?!
Not the true one, as luck would have it. If you've managed to collect all six Chac Mool pieces before the end of the game, Juan's magic luchador mask sacrifices itself to bring Lupita to life - and everything is just peachy again!
It's not often everything in a video game works out in just the way you were hoping - so enjoy it while you can!
