10 Video Game Villains Who Didn't Show Up Until The End

2. David - The Last Of Us

Though Marlene serves as the final obstacle in Joel's way as he rescues Ellie from the Fireflies at the end of The Last of Us, it's a bit of a stretch to call her an out-and-out villain, given the ambiguity of both her motives and the general moral relativism of the world these characters inhabit.

But there is one undeniable Extremely Bad Guy thrown into the mix surprisingly late, and that's David, the leader of a cannibalistic posse which Ellie encounters during the game's climactic winter sequence.

Despite posing by far the most overpowering physical threat of any human character to Ellie throughout the game, David isn't introduced until the final two hours of The Last of Us, and he's only part of the story for around an hour.

And yet, he makes one hell of an impression with the little screen time he has - in large part thanks to Nolan North's mesmerising performance - and in turn quickly cements himself as The Last of Us' most "evil" character.
