5. The Arbiter's Beef With Master Chief Turns Into A Bromance - Halo 3

The Arbiter is one of the most well-known Halo characters that appears on the side of the Covenant. He is a relentless hunter who, for the duration of the second game, acts as a major rival for Master Chief, constantly hunting him to please his alien overlords and atone for his past failures.

The player can actually play as him in Halo 2, providing the fan base with a very personal look into the world and politics of humanity's enemies. However, in Halo 3, Bungie goes one step further by making the alien hunter fully defect from his faction and become an ally of the humans.

His initial rebellious tendencies in Halo 2 are further explored in the sequel as the Arbiter helps humanity stop his previous masters from taking over the world, and he even recruits more aliens to his cause.

His decision is mostly motivated by the threat the Covenant forces pose to the whole world while under the guidance of the Prophets, but it's also clear that he holds his new companions in high regard, if his respect for Master Chief is anything to go by.

It's a true bromance, even if the Arbiter doesn't like to make it obvious.
