10 Video Game Villains You Didn't Want To Kill
2. Vaas - Far Cry 3
Switching things up a little, we are reluctant to kill the villainous Vaas in Far Cry 3 simply because it happens way too soon!
We are given the mission to find and kill him just over halfway through the game, and are left with a hollow feeling almost wondering what to do next as we realise that the main antagonist isn’t anywhere near as interesting in comparison.
Vaas Montenegro is the leader of the Pirates, a group of no-good-doers that plague the Rook Islands. They capture our protagonist, Jason, and his friends, and plan to sell them into slavery.
Throughout Jason’s campaign to try and save his friends, he’ll come into contact with Citra, Vaas’ sister, who commands him to find and kill Vaas. Although Vaas already knew that Jason was coming for him, he allows himself to be cornered in a warehouse, and after a struggle, Jason manages to kill Vaas with his knife.
Vaas was a likeable villain, a madman who we loved to hate, who delivers one of the most chilling, memorable monologues in all of gaming with his "definition of insanity". He is reckless, violent, sadistic, brutal, unpredictable cynical, psychopathic, remorseless and prideful and makes for one hell of an interesting villain to trade blows with throughout the game.
